Radar Detectors – Is It Worth The Risk?

By blits On November 15, 2011 No Comments

Radar detectors are used by some individuals as protection devices from speeding. Some states find radar detectors illegal, so if you are caught with one, you may be fined, prosecuted, or both. This will be in addition to any speeding ticket you receive. Be reminded that speeding is illegal and dangerous. In fact, speeding may not even be worth it. Police departments and agencies are become more and more equipped with their own speed detection radars that cannot be read by radar detectors.

How Do They Work?

Radar can be described as electromagnetic or radio waves traveling through the air. As the waves hit an object, they will bounce back to that which transmitted it. It will then be able to detect how far away the object is. The detectors pick up the radio signals sent by the police’s radar device, and then alert

What Exactly Are Radar Detectors?

By blits On November 10, 2011 No Comments

Do you know what radar detectors are? You have seen them used in your favorite movies. You have heard them used in sci-fi and spy television series and probably you have seen them in your favorite action sequels. But have you heard of radar detectors used in determining car speed?

The year was 1887 when Heinrich Hertz started studying radio waves. Hertz’s experiments became the corner stones of radar technology as we know it today.

Through the years, we have witnessed the application of radar technology in a number of important fields. We have seen radar technology applied in many important parts of world history like that of World War I and World War II. Radar technology has saved so many lives ever since it first took breath.

Radar detectors are used in so many ways nowadays. They are used in military and research facilities and they are now used in apprehending drivers

Radar Detectors – Could One Have Saved Me?

By blits On November 6, 2011 No Comments

I remember it well! I was on a fast stretch of road, but keeping to the limit for that stretch. I came towards a village, where the speed limit dropped by 20mph. Obviously I slowed down, and continued to slow. The road curved round to the left and went downhill. All this within about 100 yards of the slow down sign. And guess who was waiting for me at the bottom of the bend? Yes, you guessed it, the boys in blue.

I was fined for being 4mph over the limit! Grr. It didn’t seem right then, and it doesn’t seem right now either. So was there anything I could have done to avoid this in justice?

Radar detectors are extremely effective for warning drivers that they are approaching a speed detection device that uses a radar system. The speed is calculated using the difference between the transmit frequency and receive frequency

How Do Radar Detectors Work?

By blits On November 1, 2011 No Comments

Police have long used radars to track the speed of drivers and to help maintain safe roads. Meanwhile, many drivers have begun using radar detectors to help avoid costly fines for speeding violations. Despite the popularity of radars and radar detectors, many people do not understand the science or technology behind them.

Police radar guns work by transmitting radio waves from the radar to the target vehicle and back. Because radio waves move through the air at a constant speed (the speed of light), radars can calculate how far away an object is based upon how long it takes to the radio signal to return. When an object such as a vehicle is moving, there is a change in frequency in the radio waves. Radars detect this change and convert it into miles per hour to determine the target’s speed. Further, radar guns also use different types of bands

Types of Radar Detectors

By blits On October 29, 2011 No Comments

A radar detector is a radio receiver that beeps when it receives radar signals. It is capable of receiving radar and laser signals and responds to them positively. It is mostly used in cars and bikes as detectors, to keep an eye of the radar and laser signals of cops, while over-speeding etc. There are basically three types of detectors, the cordless types, the traditional corded ones and the remote mounted Radar detectors.

Corded detectors are very common and more useful. They are usually placed over the cars’ suction fuse box and are then placed on the windshield with a suction cup. They are quite useful, as they are easy to be installed which takes just about seconds! As a latest discovery, POP Radar has been introduced, that cannot be noted or detected by any other type of detectors, as the cycle is powered in every millisecond. But corded detectors can
